To assist the Lauscha Church in their renovation efforts The Farbglashuette Lauscha contributed to the fund for the Lauscha Church, a prominent feature in the center of the well known glass blowing town in the Thuringian Forest. Unusual for an Evangelical church, are the beautiful stained glass windows that show scenes from Christian and world history. The church was built in 1910/1911. As far as churches go, our church is relatively young, but the teeth of time have already begun to chew their way into the church. In the time of empty cash registers, this meant the increasing decay of the Church’s interior Many sponsors have already generously contributed to the fund to to restore the church’s interior. Gerhard Bürger in conjunction with the Farbglashuette Lauscha contributed 4000 Euros. With this donation some of the Art Nouveau painting was exposed and the altar got a restored facing. Unfortunately the money was not enough to fully restore the painting, so there was a great difference between the restored area and the unrestored area. On a sunny day in September 2007 though, there was good reason to rejoice for the church members. There was so much rejoicing that Pastor Ulrike Polster performed an extra religious service and let the bells of the church ring out their joy too. With this, she announced to the town that the church’s interior restoration could be continued. René Seifferth, procurist of the Farbglashuette Lauscha, delivered a donation of 7,500 Euros to the Church’s General Meeting, just before the Church’s fall festival. The donation will be used to complete the painting restoration so that the church’s interior shines once again in its entirety.
During Christmas Market 2008, there was reason to rejoice in the Church once again. A further 5,000 Euro were made available for another necessary restoration.
