Thüringentag 2007 mit Minister Reinholz
How does one become glass princess? Most important prerequisites for the office of the glass princess is that the candidate has studied glass blowing in Lauscha, and work in the field of glassblowing or works in a company that produces or processes glass. Having a relationship with glass is the most important criteria. Besides that, an extensive knowledge of Lauscha and the craft of glass-blowing is very important. A group comprised of representatives from a wide variety of interest groups undertakes the selection of the glass princess from all the applicants. The crowning and first public presentation of the newly selected princess traditionally takes place at the Moon Stirrers’ festival in Ernstthal in July. And which qualification do you bring along for the office? I am nationally tested Glass-blower and graduated from a three-year educational program at at the Lauschaer glass vocational school, with a specialization in solid glass sculpture. Since 2003 I have worked in the Farbglashuette as a glassblower. What made you become a Glassblower? After my graduation examination at the Greußener Hartenberg secondary school (Kyffheauserkreis), I knew that I wanted to do something creative and also highly skilled for my profession. I thought about Interior decorator or Interior designer but then accidentally heard about the glass-blowing training in Lauscha and applied. I was accepted and started my further education. And today? Today the visitors of the Farbglashuette can come and see me at my work. As a glassblower, I make not only small glass figures but also glass jewelry. In 2004 I attended a bead design course in Hamburg, so that visitors to the Farbglashuette can come and make their own bead in the creative offer, “Bead Design” in front of the torch with my help. Professional engagement, princess appointments and private life – how does one balance all these things? It is not that simple. My family lives 130 km away from Lauscha in Kyffheauserkreis. Then as a princess, one travels pretty much diagonally through all of Germany. In spite of this, it is a lot of fun. One meets so many people and when you are dressed as a princess, people speak to you quite differently – it is very entertaining. I strive very much to promote Lauscha during my tenure. For tourists, the city and the surrounding area have so much to offer. I don’t just want to be a decorative object who simply presses flyers into peoples’ hands. At the gatherings, I gladly engage visitors in conversation – the advertisement effect for the town of Lauscha simply happens through my interaction with people. |
