Photo Exhibition from Heidi & Hans-Juergen Koch Presented from September 20th, 2009 to January 17, 2010 Once in middle Germany and exclusively in Lauscha, the Museum for Glass Art Lauscha presents the glass wonder world of Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka. After the exhibit’s great success in Dresden, Munich and Bremen, the exhibit comes to Lauscha from September 20th, 2009 until January 17th, 2010, and will be housed in a specially prepared room at the Farbglashuette under the auspices of the Museum for Glass Art Lauscha.
We will be presenting the forgotten treasures of Glass sculptors Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka in a photographic exhibition by Heidi & Hans-Juergen Koch.
Between 1863 and 1890, hundreds of glass models of fascinating sea flora and fauna sculpted from glass were created in the Dresdener workshop by the Blaschka’s, and found their way into museums, universities and scientific institutions throughout the world. Scientists and lovers of glass alike, view the work of the Blaschka’s in astonishment and admiration. Both father and son had a deep interest in making work with completely accurate scientific details. They both had a deep scientific understanding of the natural world, and were able to combine that with virtuosic and unique techniques to transfer this knowledge to their glass models. Working together, they created the perfect fusion of art and science. 40 large format photographs capture the fascination of the ‘World of Glass’ of the Blaschka’s.
The opening is September 20, 2009 at 2pm in the Farbglashuette. All guests are warmly invited to this exhibition’s opening. Portuguese Man O' War Photo from Heidi and H.-J. Koch |
